Lakshmi Puja & Keeping the Ganga clean

As per Hindu mythology, Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity. We worship her to gain wealth and to prosper in our lives. Every year we have celebrated Lakshmi Puja at Shishur Sevay. The girls were so exited that they arranged the puja themselves very gracefully.DSCF2706 - 2014-10-08 um 04-54-29 - 2014-10-08 um 04-54-29

On the next day, when we discussed the immersion of the goddess we made a plan to go to the Ganga for the immersion. The girls all looked very happy. We started our immersion trio with two girls, a massi and John. John has recently come from Germany and joined Shishur Sevay as an intern.

As responsible citizens of India, we decided that we should protect our river Ganga from pollution; so we placed the idol under the banyan tree with others also kept there, instead of being immersed.

Then we went down the steps to the Ganga to fill a bottle of holy water to bring back to Shishur Sevay.DSCF2726 - 2014-10-08 um 05-05-28 - 2014-10-08 um 05-05-28

We enjoyed every moment. John and I were busy capturing the happy moments with our cameras. When we were ready to leave we found that the road was overcrowded. Then the traffic police helped us to cross the road safely. So the immersion trip was a wonderful trip for us all.IMG_0079 - 2014-10-08 um 17-03-56 - 2014-10-08 um 17-03-56
